Our Origin Story
One day during her nursery nurse teaching career, Sarah realized she couldn’t find any appropriate music or performing arts resources for young children when teaching a music and dance lesson. In response, she set out to write and record her own original music, complete with choreography, that could both entertain the children and
help them to move and grow. The Lost Hat, the first book in the Kitty + Custard
series, was born.
Not long after, Sarah realized her idea was more than just a book series–educators, parents, and kids needed the Kitty + Custard Club to be an immersive world with
a diverse cast of characters who could guide kids in age-appropriate songs and movement.

Over the years, the Kitty + Custard Club has evolved into a multi-media world of stories, songs, dances, and even a comprehensive curriculum for teachers to implement into their classrooms!
Who's Behind All Of This?
From the age of three, Sarah Milne began performing in musicals at local theatres. Later on, she trained at The Bird College of Performing Arts in London as a professional dancer and singer, and she performed in many theatres and on television throughout her professional career.
Alongside this, Sarah felt her vocation was in teaching, so she studied to become a nursery teacher. Inspired by the way dance changed her own life, and concerned by the lack of performing arts education in preschools, Sarah wanted to pass on her knowledge and professional training to the next generation. She crafted a children’s series with stories, songs and dances that promote using music to marry self-confidence, laughter, and wellness. Sarah is now Artistic Director of her dance school where she integrates the Kitty & Custard Club program into her curriculum and teaches over 150 students per year.

As the Kitty + Custard Club continues to expand and evolve, Sarah hopes to reach more children, educators and parents worldwide and hopes to inspire them to model wellness, self-love, and compassion for children in their classrooms and homes.
