I had the amazing opportunity to attend the first-ever Cyprus Music Video Festival Awards in Limassol, Cyprus, along with my best friend EGGSTA (An award Nominee) and her mother Christine.
The event was organised by Cult Experiences.
I was representing Gorilla Street Media, who had three of our videos nominated for an award.
These videos included 'Falling into you' by EGGSTA, 'Make It Out Alive' By EGGSTA, and 'Zombie' Cover By New Rules Duo, all directed, filmed, and produced by myself.
Upon arrival, I was immediately struck by the immense talent on display.
From first-time filmmakers to top-of-their-game production companies, the videos showcased were simply inspiring. It was a humbling experience to be surrounded by such creativity and dedication, and I felt privileged to be a part of this event.
Not only did I have the opportunity to watch the videos, but I was also able to network with other filmmakers, performers, and videographers who were all there for the same reason: a passion for music video production.
I met some truly talented individuals, and hearing their experiences and stories was invaluable.
The networking part of the event was just as important as the videos themselves.
One of the highlights was reconnecting with an old friend who I had worked with before on a video project. Christian Fohtung, a model and actor based in Limassol, was nominated for Best Male Performance Award, and we were thrilled to see his talent recognised.
We also had the pleasure of meeting the founders of Cult Experiences, Konstantinos, and Savvas. Their hard work and dedication to bringing the music video production industry in Cyprus to new heights were evident in the seamless organisation of the event.
The talent on display at the festival was truly awe-inspiring, and one artist that stood out to us was Theo Evan. He is a hugely talented artist, dancer, and music video editor who won two awards, and we were honoured to have the opportunity to catch up with him and we congratulate him and all of the other winners of the awards.
As representatives of Gorilla Street Media, we were also there on behalf of Dominik and Celia from New Rules Duo for their awesome cover of "Zombie" by The Cranberries. Unfortunately, they were unable to attend the event due to work commitments, but we were proud to represent their work alongside our own.
Although our videos did not win an award, we have gained so much more than just recognition. The event has given me a fresh perspective on the industry and what it takes to make truly impactful videos. Seeing the winning videos has also given me a newfound drive to learn and improve as a filmmaker.
Overall, attending the Cyprus Music Video Festival Awards was a truly unforgettable experience.
I was able to network with other filmmakers, learn from their experiences, and come away with a renewed sense of purpose.
I am grateful to have had the opportunity to attend and represent my company, and I am excited to continue to grow and learn in this incredible industry.
